I used to think the Law of Attraction worked like ordering coffee.
Say it clearly.
Believe hard enough.
Wait politely.
Instead, life kept handing me the same cup with a different sleeve.
Same flavor.
Same lesson.
Different date.
That’s when I realized something uncomfortable:
I wasn’t attracting what I wanted.
I was attracting what I was still holding.
Old emotions are sneaky like that.
They don’t announce themselves.
They sit quietly in the body, sipping tea, whispering,
“Let’s see what else we can recreate.”
So I’d say affirmations in the mirror
while my nervous system rolled its eyes.
I’d visualize abundance
while my shoulders stayed braced like rent was due forever.
I’d call it faith
while my body called it survival.
Funny how attraction works best
when we stop pretending we’re healed.
Somewhere between scrolling Medium at midnight
and reheating coffee for the third time,
I noticed my body had been keeping receipts.
Every time I said, “I’m over it,”
my jaw clenched.
Every time I said, “I’m grateful,”
my chest tightened like it didn’t buy the story.
Turns out, the universe listens to the body more than the mouth.
It responds to what’s true, not what’s trendy.
And society?
Society loves productivity.
It applauds resilience....
